The Sea Buckthorn Category

Sea buckthorn berries, the least publicized of all superfruits, is still truly worthy of the title superfruit. The common sea buckthorn plant, Hippophae rhamnoides, produces many small, orange berries on each thorny branch that have many times the vitamins and nutrients of other fruit like oranges. (Tweleve TIMES the vitamin C as an orange, in fact.)

Additionally, Sea Buckthorn has massive amounts of carotenoids, vitamin E, amino acids, dietary minerals, beta-sitosterol, and polyphenolic acids too.

So far I have seen products from the Chinese, Russians, Mongolians, and the Japanese based on the Sea Buckthorn berry, mainly for it's cholesterol-lowering ability.

Found growing in temperate climates from Japan to Great Britian, sea buckthorn berries are too tart to eat directly off the plant, but many foods & juices are made from them after sweetening.

The real problem with sea buckthorn, however, is that the thorns are quite formidable so the rate at which we can harvest them is very slow.

Sea Buckthorn Skin Care Bar

Sea Buckthorn has so many health properties that there are companies that manufacture products based on Sea Buckthorn. Aubrey Organics Sea Buckthorn Skin Care Bar With Sandalwood is a unique bar of soap with lots of antioxidants. This is a 3.6 oz bar with 100% Natural Ingredients. This product is great for sensitive, dry, and even itchy skin. Many find that it has a soothing effect on skin.

Genghis Khan And the Sea Buckthorn Silliness
