He was Maryland’s first Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, has served as chair of four gubematorial commissions, and has acted as health advisor to presidents and governors. He has appeared on television and radio talk shows, provided daily medical commentaries on CNN-TV, and for 18 years wrote a globally syndicated health advice column for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate.
